Non-combativity calls can really throw beginning fencers. I have to admit I have yet to understand the strategy in team fencing using non-combativity as it always seems to be a huge advantage for one team over the other, and I do not understand why the other team wold agree to killing the time and moving on. Maybe that can be addressed at some later time. Also, I have seen non-combativity used to a fencer’s advantage when that fencer has a great lead in the first period. I love how non-combativity becomes a strategy.
